AFCAN as a premier DESIGN and BUILD company, offers a unique and revolutionary construction SYSTEM utilizing inter-locking, load-bearing hollow concrete blocks, bricks and joist slabs.
It is important to view this as a SYSTEM [distinctly different from conventional systems] rather than individual building blocks/bricks as this is where the true value and advantages of the system are manifested. The system:
Has Predictable Costing in the initial construction phase with numerous cost saving opportunities e.g. not plastering drops costs. We are competitive with conventional systems for bungalows and up to 20% cheaper for storied structures.
- Less cement used for mortaring compared to conventional (90% less).
- Less material used since the block and brick provide formwork for beams and columns.
- Reduction on labor costs – few to no steel fixers, fewer carpenters; semi-skilled and unskilled labor may be used.
Proves CHEAPER over time since MAINTENANCE is greatly reduced. This maintenance is occasioned by:
- No Plaster delamination – our blocks/bricks form permanent bonds with plaster.
- No Molding – our blocks/bricks have low water absorption ≤ 4% when submerged in water for 24 hours. The hollow sections also provide an escape route for any residual water.
TIME SAVING – We build fast since:
- The blocks/bricks are at full strength at the time of construction, can carry their own weight and no horizontal mortaring is needed.
- Beams and columns are carried within the U-shaped block and hollow sections of the blocks respectively. Consequently, as the concrete gains strength, the blocks/bricks carry the weight.
Enables Explicit High Quality Finishes – With thin plumb plaster finishes and straight lines due to the quality of construction. Thus finishes are:
- Cheaper construction.
- More Aesthetic buildings.
